Within seconds of walking into Slumbrew, I forgot about my day at work and released my inner kid. The brewery has a casual, industrial look with the added coziness of candles lit on each table. We sat ourselves at an open table and grabbed Battleship from a pile of board games.
Groups of friends huddled around games, laughing and tilting back tulip-shaped beer glasses.
“I’ve seen a lot of interest, a lot of new people every week which is really exciting,” said Jennifer Mau, the organizer of game night at Slumbrew.
Whether you want to test your skills with a strategy-based game like Settlers of Catan, or a mindless game of Sorry!, it’s up to you.
“That’s the great thing about this night, whatever you’re in the mood for, theirs a game,” said Mau.
Kate Henneberry and Justin Therrien walked in to Slumbrew looking to try a new local brewery, and were pleasantly surprised by the game night.
“We were looking for a spot to drink beers, we both like local breweries,” said Therrien. “No questions asked, we would come here again.”
When asked about the Tuesday game night, Henneberry and Therrien agreed that it only added to the experience.
